Description

Halima bint al Harith was a noble Christian Arab Princess, daughter of Arethas aka Al Harith ibn Jabala, the legendary Ghassanid King, and granddaughter of Mariya, the most celebrated Queen of Ghassan.

In the course of Byzantine-Sassanid conflict in early 6th Century AD, Lakhimd Kingdom as a vassal of Persia began to raid Byzantine territories in Mesopotamia. Ghassanid Foderati joined the Iberian War in 526 AD; motivated by their beliefs, they called themselves   ''the warriors of cross'' and went to war against '' pagan Lakhmids'' and '' Persian fire worshippers''. Iberian war ended in 534 AD but the conflict between Lakhmids and Ghassanids continued till it reached its turining point around mid-6th century. In 554 AD Ghassanids under Arthas faced Lakhmids under al Mundhir ibn Nu'man near Qinnasrin /chalcis in northern Syria. Battle of Chalcis was the most brutal Battle in pre-Islamic history of Arabia, which resulted in huge casualties of both sides including many of their nobles.

According to a Tradition of Arabs, Arab women accompanied their men into battles, clothed them with coats of mail and motivated them by singing verse about war known by Arabs as ''Rajaz'' . Halima didn't settled for it, but she took arms and fought side by side of her borthers of sword in a war against their sworn enemies, the Lakhmids. Ghassanids overcame Lakhmids and managed to kill their king, al Mundhir, in the battle. Halima palyed a decisive roll in the outcome of the battle, in such a way that the victory of Ghassanids in Chalcis is known in Arab History as ''Yawm al Halima'' (eng.: Day of Halima)
